Zoe felt that she would benefit from Life Coaching because she was feeling lost and unsure about many aspects of her life and in particular, her job. We spent several sessions together exploring the different aspects of her life in order to establish which were a priority for her to focus on within sessions. In doing this, we established that it would be useful for Zoe to spend some time focussing on what is important to her, the things she cares about and values as a person and her strengths and qualities. We used a number of tools to explore this in sessions and Zoe also committed to doing this in between sessions by setting herself several tasks. Once we had spent time building Zoe’s understanding and awareness of herself, we then spent a number of sessions exploring what it is that gets in the way of Zoe finding satisfaction and purpose in her life.

What We Did

Building confidence, building self-Esteem and cultivating self-acceptance

We identified that Zoe’s confidence and perception of herself is a barrier that prevents her from making certain choices, taking opportunities and pushing herself out of her comfort zone, which leaves her feeling stuck and unsatisfied but unsure about what needs to change. Over several sessions we explored many ways that Zoe can manage these experiences internally (CBT and ACT techniques) and also practical things that Zoe can do to build her confidence such as pushing herself out of her comfort zone and taking opportunities as they arise. We identified areas in Zoe’s life that she could utilise her strengths and qualities to her advantage (positive psychology), and areas that she would like to build on. In between each session, Zoe continued to keep a note of the experiences she’d had that week and she committed to a specific task that she was going to achieve before the next session.

Zoe has now built the awareness and understanding to continue to her journey of self-development without the need for regular Life Coaching. Zoe has applied for a number of jobs with her new-found confidence and she continues to challenge herself with different opportunities and experiences to build on her strengths and confidence further.

Becky has been a great help in allowing me to understand how to challenge my negative thoughts and helping me to work on identifying how these thoughts play out in reality, so that I could work on areas of my life where I hold back. Now I have an understanding and have worked through ways to combat this. I feel more confident to push my self out of my comfort zone in order to do the things that I wanted to do but didn't, due to my lack of confidence. Becky is approachable, friendly and professional at all times. I would definitely recommend Becky at Your Next Chapter if you aren’t feeling motivated with your life and need a sense of direction.
